Anthony John Strange was born to Parents William Strange and Eileen Strange on the 26th of january 1945 in Swindon, Wiltshire.
At the age of about 9 he joined a local choir run by a lady called Pam Lewis, but even though he had a voice worth listening to,i dont think anybody imagined what it was to sound like as the years went on.
As a teenager he joined a band called the "Ramblers",then he formed a band which he called "Tony Strange and the Tempos" which was managed for the first 4 years by his father then managed by the drummer's father, it was through the Tempos he met his wife Rosemary and they got married when he was 21.
Years later he left the Tempo's and moved to Leeds,Yorkshire where he went solo going around clubs and pubs in and around yorkshire, which then followed by a double act which included himself and a drummer called Kay.
Hence the name "Tony Strange & Kay" which was a Cabaret come comedy act. Both Tony and Kay worked for a local taxi firm when not doing their act's.
The Tempo's carried on in and around Swindon with one of the guitarist's taking over the vocal.
From then on it just got better for Tony he was getting more and more popular around the north which gave him the chance to work abroad in different countries waiting for the big chance to make it big style,
When Kay finished working with Tony he carried on by himself, then due to someone else called Tony Strange he starting using a stage name which was to be "Tony Chase"
Unfortunatly he never got a record deal, although there are tapes around of Tony Strange and Kay which they sold during thier acts,
By this time Tony's voice was powerful, perfectly toned and he was able to hit notes with so much power and make them last.
It was through his time up north he met famous singer's some to mention are P.J Proby,Shirley Bassey,Tom Jones,Gerry Marsdon (from Gerry and the Pacemakers),Billy Fury aswell as some comedians.
Tony moved back down to Swindon, where he carried on doing his solo act as Tony Chase in and around Swindon,it was when he came back down i had the chance to hear my uncle for real by going to clubs he was working in,and i thought this is a voice and i still do.
Later he formed another band which they called themselves "Dance like your dad" which had a couple of members which were in the Tempo's back in the early day's,which i became the roady i had to help set up his equipment.
And now he sings in a band called Nitelife, and they have a website,
I always have and always will admire my uncle for he his a great guy which we both get on like best mates and in my opinion i have never heard anyone else who is such a good singer as he and i doubt i ever will.
